magickal names

I was wondering how many of you found your magickal names. I have only found the first half to mine and have been trying to figure out what the last half is.

I knew this person once who told me to meditate on it and that is how I found my first half but i draw a blank on the second. I am curious on how others may have found theirs.

I have heard about meditating to find your name as well. I only have the first part of my as well. I know some people just write a list on what is important to them or things they seem drawn and come to their name that way. Some people it just comes to them, some people include their animal totems as well. Mine came to me as it's something I'm drawn to. Storms give me so much excitement and fill me with energy as for the rest of my name, well... it hasn't quite came to me yet

My magic name was given to me during my ordination into Priestess hood. During the ceremony my mentor the High Priestess of the our group invoked Hathor, whom is my patron Goddess and she told her what my magic name was to be. I actually have 2 magic names one that I use in general and one that I use while alone. No one not even my husband knows this name. Only my mentor, Hathor, and myself.

In my experience magical names can be hard to pick and tricky to understand. They are very personal things. I have also come across some odd ways to pick this name as well. One person I know actually just took her favorite stone and animal and made it one word, other pick their favorite plant, animal, planet, stone, Goddess, ect and just put those together. My adoptive mom actually took a hat and some cards and wrote all her favorite things on them, then picked 2 from the hate and there was her magical name. Meditating on this or asking the Gods or Goddess’ for help in finding your name also helps I have heard. Either way just remember while picking your magical name, this is the name the Gods and Goddess’ will know you by from then on. Make sure it is highly personal and means something to you. Other wise its not special and doesn’t form that “link” needed between you and the other side so to speak.

I think when it comes to finding your magical name that meditating on it is one of th biggest steps you can take. For those who are self practioners, it can be especially important. Finding your Name shows to yourself that you are on the right path. Sometimes that is enough self-reassurance that you need.
I am still , as with Storm and Edana, searching for my Second Name. It will come. just have to be willing to let it come to me.

as an update, i still am at a loss for the 2nd part of my name. meditating has not helped in the slightest. lol.

I have recently been trying to come up with a good Roller Derby name for myself and this got me thinking about names in general. I do realize that comparing a Derby name to a Magickal name is absurd, and I'm not trying to do that, but it did get me thinking about different things/words/symbolism that I would like to represent who I am.

I do like the idea of combining your two favorite things found in nature to create one word and therefore a totally unique name. Although you would have to be a little selective with your favorite things vs things that sounded good when combined into a new word. Wolf + Frog = Wrolg?

I'm thinking of names I would respond to and things I associate with myself and who I am already. My father called me babe and little red when I was little. I still look up when I hear someone say babe or almost anything ending in Lyn for that matter. Possibly Babel, Babell, Abelyn or something of the like would suit me well. I think its probably good to come up with a few options and meditate on them to see if any "call to you by name". ... and if they still don't I recommend trying to not think about it as much as possible and to let the name come to you in a sort of when-you-least-expect-it eureka moment.

Yeah...I need help finding my magickal name. I could try meditating on it, but I want to be able to focus better before I try.

well try to meditation first. clear your thoughts take some good clean breaths visualize what you want to know, put on some calming music if you like that sort of thing, and begin. i have been trying this one myself.
